After Lockdown, What's Better, Commuting Or Car Travel?
After enduring one of the most testing times of peoples’ lives in modern times, the world is slowly trying to get back to some sort of normality. In most cases, things will never be the same and more and more, the words social distancing, contactless, and wearing masks in socially accessible areas will also be classed as an accepted activity.
Many say, things will never be the same again and for most of us, we will have to adapt in the way we live our lives. The questions will always be on our minds.. Is it safe to go to the movies, visit the theatre, wander around shopping malls, ride on buses, coaches, trains, and fly on passenger planes?
The honest answer is, we will never really know anymore, but one thing can be certain is, in every mode of transport or environment, some sort of precaution must be taken. Being aware of government advice is one step. The other is common sense, to cut down on any potential infection which can occur in crowded spaces. Could this be the reason that the demand for cars, MPVs, and SUVs has increased? It’s no coincidence that the general public is now looking into keeping themselves and their families as safe as possible.
Trains, Planes, and Automobiles
How many times have we been commuting to work on a cold, wet morning and been sat next to someone sneezing or coughing without covering their mouth? Your first instinct is to cover your own nose or move to another seat, but out of politeness, you have to stay and endure! One key way to cut this risk is to now think about the option of returning back to the car. In all cases, they’ll be advantages and disadvantages, but what it does guarantee is the reduced risk of potential infections.
The New Trend
The noticeable buying trend now is for estate cars, MPVs, and SUVs. More and more demands are being made for the seven seaters, for families and friends to travel in relative safety in one confined space. This will probably have a knock on effect for the environment but things and change in the near future, and technology is always evolving for leaner burn engine cars and of course, hybrids and fully electric vehicles.
The choice now is far easier than it used to be in the past. Before we’d be looking for transportation for a family run around, the school run car or the weekend wheels for fun and social activities. Now it’s all about MPG, space, affordability.
Calculators are now coming out to do the maths on the savings, and commuting costs comparisons to come up with solutions in making our lives easier and just safe for ourselves and the ones we love.
